The Coast stretches over 1590 km from the subtropical Northern Rivers down to the much cooler Far South Coast, this famous strip of coastline is home to over 892 beaches including world-famous beaches including Byron Bay, Bondi Beach, Coogee and Cronulla Beach. West of the coast lies The Great Dividing Range which encompasses the Snowy Mountains and the South, Central and Northern Tablelands. Beyond the mountains lie the fertile Central Plains and then the arid Western Plains which cover more than two thirds of the state.
