Benson Aryana
How would you describe your style?
Bright, Natural and vibrant
What do you love about what you do?
Flying a drone gives me freedom to go (almost) anywhere and to take photographs of areas from angles that the human eye never sees.
If you could shoot anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
French Polynesia, Teahupo’o. The coastal landscapes, crystal clear blue waters and the immense surf break here are a combination of everything I love to shoot from above.
How did you get into photography?
My initial interest in landscape photography came from an active lifestyle and my love of the outdoors. I would bring a camera along with me and take photos to document where I had been. With the advancements in technology and the introduction of drones, I was able to combine two of my hobbies of photography and video games. I liken the controller to be like a video game, except I control what I see and where I go. This created an entirely new facet of photography which I have specialised in for the past five years.
What do you enjoy photographing the most and why?
My favourite locations to shoot are coastlines and bodies of water. Its forever changing nature coupled with an aerial perspective makes it so interesting and appealing to the eye.
What is your favourite time of day to shoot and why?
As an aerial photographer, I prefer to shoot in the couple hours before and including sunset. In my opinion it has the nicest lighting from the sky and can make subject matter ‘pop’.
